Mahboubeh Shahabadi
I am an Iranian visual artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Since completing my studies, I have been actively engaged in the world of visual arts, both in creating and teaching. I have participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Iran, including a show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, where I had the opportunity to present my visual language and artistic perspective.
For many years, I have also taught painting to children, youth, and adults. I believe art is a powerful tool for expressing emotions, understanding the world, and building cultural connections.
In recent years, I have continued my artistic journey in Canada. I participated in two group exhibitions in Saskatchewan and, most recently, in a collaborative exhibition at BAM Art Gallery alongside a group of fellow artists.
My work draws inspiration from traditional elements, particularly motifs from the Safavid era of Persian art, reimagined through a contemporary lens. Themes of identity, migration, femininity, and memory are central to my practice. I often incorporate layered colors, textiles, mirrors, and other mixed media materials to give form to these ideas.
