Tetiana Kyzieieva
My name is Tetiana Kyzieieva. I am a Ukrainian woman who came to Canada with my daughter after the full-scale war in Ukraine. I have a Ukrainian Master’s Degree in Education and Psychology and am a new artist (I have been practicing painting for the last six years).
I like painting with oil paints on a big natural canvas. I continue to study. My paintings include landscapes, flowers, bouquets, sunrises, and sunsets. I also like to conduct art workshops using gouache or acrylic paints.

I have loved painting since childhood, but I always thought artists were extraordinary and talented. It’s not me. When the COVID quarantine started, I decided I had time for painting, and after I understood, I could! Next, my step was art therapy classes with children and adults after studying art therapy techniques with Karine Kovalova. I am thrilled when people say to me after the art workshop, “Wow! Is it me? It’s amazing!”
I am a new young artist (although my age is quite old))) And I’m looking for my artistic voice. I know one thing for sure: painting is a resource for me, and I want people to be happy and feel inspired when they look at my works and want to take up the brush themselves. “If I can, you can too!” My main psychological idea is that I will help to be tempted by this life again.
My first solo exhibition was in a gift-flower shop in my hometown in Ukraine (during three months until the war started).
In Canada, I had one solo exhibition (Nuit Blanche Yxe, September 24, 2022, Drinkle3), one four-person exhibition “Dialogue”(August 27, 2023, BAM, Drinkle3), and two exhibitions after the collaborations in an art project for women from the country with war (March 7, 2024, Remai Modern, Saskatoon; and March 6, 2025, Persephone Theatre, Saskatoon).
As a Ukrainian visual artist, psychologist, and teacher of the Ukrainian language, I combine my knowledge of language, colors, and human psychology in my vision and reflection of the world. Art is not only an expression; it is also a path to healing the soul. Art can be there where there is no place for words or emotions. After art therapy, we can find the words about this and express our feelings.
